Make-up artist Brendan Robertson reveals the beauty secrets behind Ella Henderson’s retro lookanatomy1

Take a brow “For fuller looking brows, I used No7 Beautiful Brows Pencil in Blonde, £6.50 (1), to draw tiny extra hairs in the direction of each brow, carefully building up the colour. I went darker towards the end of the brows as the hair becomes lighter and sparse here. Then I ran the brush end of the pencil through them, blending for a natural finish.”

Sheer luxe “She has great skin, but to give Ella instant radiance I applied Clarins Beauty Flash Balm, £29 (2), before massaging Crème De La Mer Moisturizing Soft Cream, £100, into her face. This little bit of luxury goes a long way and creates an ideal base for her make-up.”

Glamour puss “For dramatic flicks, I used Givenchy Parad’eyes Liner in Dream In Black, £21.50, and coated Ella’s lashes in Benefit Bad Gal Lash Mascara in Black, £16.50. For extra va-va-voom, I added Eylure Naturalites Double False Eyelashes in 207, £7.10 (3), as the winged edges complement the eyeliner perfectly.”

Balmy beauty “Ella’s super-glossy lips were achieved with Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in Rose Shimmer, £17 (4). It’s not too sticky, hydrates like a balm and has staying power.”

Hot flush “I created a contoured, natural glow by using Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel Universel Bronzing Makeup Base, £30, on Ella’s forehead, hairline and cheekbones. Then I worked Mac Cremeblend Blush in Ladyblush, £17.50 (5), on to the apples of her cheeks.”

Fresh faced “I wanted to maintain Ella’s youthful glow, so I applied Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Crème Compact SPF20 in Nude, £33, using the Japonesque Stippling Brush, £28 (6), for a light, dewy coverage. To disguise blemishes,I dabbed Estée Lauder Disappear Smoothing Crème Concealer in Medium, £17.50, around her eyes, nose and chin, which left her base looking fresh.”

Peek a beau “To help Ella’s eyes sparkle, I blended Mac Pigment in Grape, £16.50, and Bobbi Brown Metallic Eye Shadow in Burnt Sugar, £16.50 (7), across her lids. Then I added Collection Glam Crystals Dazzling Gel Liner in Funk, £2.99 (8), to the corners.”
