He was the squeaky-clean prince of pop, but not any more. As 19-year-old Justin Bieber’s halo slips, here are seven life lessons we could all learn from him

1. It’s not all about you

On his recent trip to Amsterdam, the Biebs visited The Anne Frank House, where the young Jewish diarist hid from the Nazis for over two years. Good for him, you may think. Well, yes… until he wrote in the visitors’ book: “Anne Frank was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a Belieber.” In 1945, Anne died of typhus aged 15, while in a concentration camp. Miss the point much, Justin?

2. Don’t swing the first punch

Picking fights with men twice your size isn’t big or clever – as the pocket-sized pop star proved earlier this year, when he burst out of a car and lunged at a photographer in London. Luckily, his burly bodyguards restrained him, because who knows what, ahem, damage the young whippersnapper could have done to a fully grown man.

3. Pets are for life

Not content with a cuddly toy like other youngsters, JB got a real live baby monkey called Mally for his birthday this year. He then took the primate with him on a world tour without the proper documents only to abandon him when the German authorities confiscated him at Munich airport. Poor Mally is now at an animal shelter.

4. Never keep a lady waiting

It’s a Monday night at London’s O2, and thousands of young girls are giddy with excitement. And they’re waiting. And waiting… For almost two hours, in fact. And by 10.20pm, when Justin finally puts in an appearance, some have fallen asleep, while others have headed home because they have a double-science lesson the next morning. Most are in tears. Tut, tut.

5. Don’t ditch the girl next door

If you’re lucky enough to find yourself the subject of a good girl’s affections, don’t go breaking her heart. Justin split from former Disney star Selena Gomez, 20, after two years last November, amid rumours about his fidelity. Or lack of. Worryingly, the pair have been spotted smooching again recently.

6. Just say no to drugs

After a picture emerged of Just smoking a suspicious cigarette at a party earlier this year, he gave a third-person apology in a sketch on US show Saturday Night Live, saying: “[Justin Bieber] got busted for smoking weed and he’s really sorry.” Then, last month, his tour bus was searched in Stockholm when officers smelled marijuana. A small amount of drugs was reportedly found, along with a stun gun, but nobody was charged.

7. Sometimes the slow lane is best

He’s hardly Lewis Hamilton, but that didn’t stop the Biebs renting a super-deluxe Lamborghini while in Dubai earlier this month and setting off six speed cameras along one road. Yep, that’s six! The Baby singer was on his way to perform at the Sevens Stadium where, later on, a man managed to get up on stage and attack him. Maybe the teen had cut him up on the way to the gig…
